Open Contents for FCN training (D4.2.1)

Welcome!
This Database of Open Contents has been developed in the context of the ENhANCE project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, and targets teachers in the field of family and community nursing (FCN) education.

It contains a collection of designs of a number of collaborative learning activities for FCNs, along with teaching materials, such as presentations, exercises, and other materials produced and used in the context of the pilot courses run by the project.

The Open Contents are free and available for the public (under CC licenses).
Currently the Database contains a total of 118 items: some of them are in English (and come from the teacher training of the project), others are in English but come from the pilots (i.e. teaching materials, exercises, slides, etc.). These latter ones are also available in Greek, Finnish or Italian, depending on the pilot where they were used.

Academic paper on self-regulated learning.

This paper has been used as a learning material in the ENhANCE* teacher training course and, specifically, as an optional resource accessible in its third module (focusing on self-regulated learning and gamification). The paper argues for the importance of self-regulation and personal learning networks in professional development.

Abstract:

Learning does not stop when an individual leaves formal education, but becomes increasingly informal, and deeply embedded within other activities such as work. This article describes the challenges of informal learning in knowledge intensive industries, highlighting the important role of personal learning networks. The article argues that knowledge workers must be able to self-regulate their learning and outlines a range of behaviours that are essential to effective learning in informal networks. The article identifies tools that can support these behaviours in the workplace and how they might form a personal work and learning environment.

This document is a rubric for feedback on learning designs employed for a collaborative activity in the ENhANCE* teacher training course. Specifically, it has been used in the fourth Module of the course, focusing on collaborative learning, for helping participants provide stuctured feeback on their peers' learning designs. Consisently with the contents of the third module of the course, the rubric places special importance on aspects related to the promotion of self-regulated learning, as well as on the use of gamified approaches and techniques.

This is the recording of the first Module webinar (socialization) of the teacher training offered during the ENhANCE project*. The webinar includes a presentation of the ENhANCE project, of its partnership and of its coordinating institution (ITD-CNR), followed by a description of the main aims of ENhANCE and, specifically, of its teacher training path. Subsequently, the webinar present the course contents, activities, time schedules, and requirements for a successful attendance. Lastly, the webinar presents some statistics resulting from the initial profilation survey, detailing gender and geographical distribution, their degree of familiarity with course contents, and their learning design practices.

This is the recording of the second Module webinar of the teacher training offered during the ENhANCE project*, focusing on familiarization with the main project outputs (Curricula & OOT). Specifically, the webinar presents the Professional Profile for Family and Community Nurses developed during the project, describing its components: 28 core competencies, 7 units of learning, and 54 learning outcomes. The curriculum is devised to be modular and flexible; as such, national adaptations have been developed for implementation in Italy, Greece, and Finland. The webinar presents the process that led to the definition of the national curricula, and provide suggestions for teachers designing pilot courses for Family and Community Nurses: assessing students' performance and participation, promoting collaboration and practice sharing, supporting community building, promoting self-regulated learning, striving to recognise prior non-formal and informal learning (e.g. learning obtained through professional practice), giving students the opportunity to personalise their learning path, and sharing contents as open educational resources.

This is the recording of the third Module webinar of the teacher training offered during the ENhANCE project*, focusing on the basics of collaborative learning and learning design. The webinar presents the key concepts of learning design, including the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) model. Subsequently, the webinar presents the design principles for online collaborative learning, focusing on the 4T model (task, time, technology, and team). Lastly, some techniques that can be used for supporting online collaborative learning are presented: the jigsaw, peer review, role play, debate, and pyramid. These techniques are then contextualised in the activities envisioned in the ENhANCE teacher training path, detailing how participants to the course will design their own collaborative learning paths to be used in pilot courses.

This is the recording of the fourth Module webinar of the teacher training offered during the ENhANCE project*, focusing on the basics of self-regulated learning and gamification. The webinar presents a definition and the main models for conceptualising self-regulated learning, such as Zimmerman's model and the 4C framework. The webinar also includes suggestions for designing activities promoting Self-regulated learning, such as focusing on meta-cognition and encouraging self-assessment.

The second part of the webinar presents some gamification approaches and techniques, starting with Deterding et al.'s definition of the concept. Some of the myths surrounding gamification are discussed and debunked.

Lastly, the webinar describes how self-regulated learning and gamification have been implemented in the Open Online Tool, a learning environment developed and used during the ENhANCE project both for teacher training and for training of family and community nurses.

This document is the presentation of the fifth Module (development of Open Contents and OOT configuration) of the teacher training offered during the ENhANCE project*. The slides start with a debriefing on the collaborative activity proposed during module 4 of the course, and subsequently present the individual activity that comprises the bulk of module 5. In this activity, participants to the course individually designed a collaborative activity for family and community nursing students, and shared the activity as open content using the ENhANCE Open Online Tool. The slides include an extensive explanation of what open content is and present the most commonly used sharing licences. The slides also include links and references to the most widely used databases and websites for Open Educational Resources.

This document is a template for describing learning designs employed for an activity in the ENhANCE* teacher training course. Specifically, it has been used in the fifth Module of the course, in which participants were asked to individually design a collaborative activity to be used in courses for family and community nurses. Consisently with the contents of the previous modules of the course, the template guides the participant in describing the activity in terms of the 4T framework (i.e. by carefully considering timing, technology, teams, and techniques).
